When it comes to shopping in Rome, you can’t come to Italy and not want to shop. Even as a budget traveler, finding a unique or special souvenir is so important to me, it’s like a puzzle piece to my travels. These aren’t your typical souvenir shops either, no fridge magnets or keychains here (no hate, I love these too). I came across some great shopping spots in Rome, so I wanted to share them with you.
The Best Shopping in Rome: Where I Actually Bought Things
1. Booktique
This is a great spot for a range of souvenirs. They have postcards, art prints, fun books, and all sorts of random unique gifts. I ended up here twice because I really loved what they had to offer. It’s the kind of shop where you go in for one thing and leave with a handful of little treasures.
2. Manufactus Made in Italy
One thing you end up doing when shopping in Italy is coming across leather shops. This place was a cool little spot, they have leather notebooks, wallets, luggage tags and all sorts of different things. I ended up buying my partner a wallet and getting his initials pressed onto it, so it was a very unique gift that he could use all the time. Watching them personalize it on the spot made it feel extra special, not something you’d just grab off a shelf.
3. Eternal Charm Roma
Back in the day, Italian charm bracelets were it, and you would collect a bunch of different charms to make a fun bracelet. Well, this place had both those classic charms and the attachable charms for chain bracelets or necklaces. They had ones with the Colosseum and other distinct Rome spots, so it’s an easy way to bring home a little piece of the city without it feeling like a typical tourist trinket.
4. Paolina Roma
Another fun charm shop, very similar to the one above, and you can have them help you form a necklace or bracelet so you can walk out ready to either wear or gift it. I liked that you could build something that actually felt personal to your trip, rather than picking something premade off a rack.
5. Lela
This is a kitchen and homeware store, perfect if you want to add something to your home that isn’t just a magnet but something you’ll actually use and look at and think, ahh, my trip to Rome! It’s a nice change of pace from the usual souvenir shops, and a great stop if you love cooking or want something practical to bring home.
6. Tic – Libri e cose fantastiche
A cool bookstore. They had great books for both kids and adults, plus all the fun little random things bookstores sell, like trinkets and print art. This place was very cute, and even if you don’t read Italian, it’s worth a wander just for the atmosphere and the little gift finds.
7. Laboratorio Pellerossa
I added this one because I stumbled across it while staying in a different area of Rome. It’s a unique shop with leather goods plus jewelry. The man running the shop was so sweet, it’s a great place to support local. These are the kind of finds that don’t usually make it onto the typical shopping lists, which is exactly why I wanted to include it here.

A Few Things I’d Tell You Before You Go
- Cash is handy for smaller shops, though most take card too
- Many shops close for a few hours midday (riposo), so check opening times before you go
